Twitter & American Express Chirp Together To Small Businesses
Twitter recently partnered with American Express to launch Promoted Products for small businesses. The specific advertising program which includes Twitter’s Promoted Accounts and Promoted Tweets is currently aimed at getting Amex Cardmembers and merchants signed up and going. The program’s first run is limited to Amex only for now, but you can expect this to ultimately open up wide to everyone after the folks at Twitter have had the chance to fine-tune it.
As part of the aggressive initiative, the financial services conglomerate is even giving $100 in free Twitter advertising to 10,000 of its business customers that register first for the small business advertising program.
Old gladiator learns to chirp like a new bird
Most people would agree that pushing through changing economies and staying on top of any industry generation after generation takes leadership, ingenuity, resilience, courage and vision. But most importantly, companies must have the agility to adapt to evolving environments. This partnership demonstrates how legacy companies that once dominated in the old economy must forever continue to stay relevant in the new.
While the speed of technological and economical change makes longevity a challenge, the giant has remained strong and is today ranked as the 22nd most valuable brand globally by BusinessWeek, and listed by Fortune as one of the top 20 most admired companies in the world. American Express was founded in 1850 as an express mail business.
How the partnership works
With the help of Twitter, now Amex will be giving small business customers (many of which operate physical brick-and-mortar businesses) an introduction to tweeting as a way of marketing. Twitter’s Promoted Products focuses on providing a social marketing platform for advertisers to promote their businesses, establish a voice, and engage their audiences among other things.
